Online Purchase Tax (OPT) is a 7% government levy applied to all goods purchased online and imported by air into Trinidad & Tobago. It is separate from customs duty, and VAT is then applied on top of duty and OPT. The calculator shows all three for your item.

Collected for T&T Customs — not a Swiftbox charge
Customs duty (varies by item — 20% for clothing, shoes and most household goods; 0% for laptops, books and computer parts), Online Purchase Tax 7% and VAT 12.5% are government charges set and assessed by T&T Customs. Swiftbox collects and remits them for you at delivery. The examples above assume the duty rates shown; use the calculator for your exact item.

TTD payments accepted. All charges quoted in USD may be converted to Trinidad and Tobago Dollars at the commercial bank exchange rate applicable at the time of invoicing. No fixed rate is used.
How we calculate weight
Actual weight
We use the actual weight of your package in pounds, rounded up to the next whole pound. A package weighing 7.2 lb is charged at 8 lb.
No dimensional weight
Many couriers calculate a ‘dimensional weight’ (L×W×H÷139) and charge whichever is higher. We don't. You pay for what your package actually weighs — nothing more.

Television insurance is separate — see the TV policy below for TV-specific insurance rates.
Insurance is included on all Swiftbox shipments at $1 per $100 of declared value, with a $1 minimum on a 1 lb package and $2 from 2 lb, either covering the first $300 of value and is added to your invoice automatically. Cover is capped at US$500 of declared value. To file a claim, you must provide the original purchase invoice. Claims cannot be processed without it.
